Our School Day
The school day starts at 8.45am and finishes at 3.15pm (totalling 32.5 hours in a typical week). Please make sure your child is at school for the start of the school day.
Morning playtimes
At 10.00am, children from Reception to Year 6 have a short ‘brain break’ and a quick burst of exercise when we have our daily ‘Wake Up, Shake Up!’ session. Later in the morning, children have a break: 10.30am – 10.45am for children in Years 1 and 2 (Key Stage 1) and 10.55am – 11.10am for older children (those in Years 3 to 6 – Key Stage 2).
Reception have break times which are quite flexible. Towards the end of the school year, they join children in Key Stage 1 to have breaks at set times.
Lunch
Children in Reception have their lunch at 11.45am and then go out to play until 1.00pm. Those in Years 1 and 2 (Key Stage 1) have lunch and playtime between 12.00noon and 1.00pm. Lunchtime for children in Years 3 to 6 (Key Stage 2) is from 12.10pm to 1.10pm.
Afternoon playtimes
Younger children have an afternoon playtime.
Drop-off and collection
At the beginning and end of the school day, parents are encouraged into the playground. This helps to build up a close relationship between home and school – we want to have good links with all parents. If normal arrangements have to be altered (eg you are delayed or another person is collecting your child), please let us know. This avoids any confusion or upset.
Getting to school
Travel to school in an active way! A happy and healthy start and end to the day is to walk, bike or scoot. There are other benefits, too: walking, cycling or scooting also improves the safety of pedestrians and road-users, and it respects nearby residents and parking regulations. Bikes or scooters can be stored safely at school. If you have to drive, please do park well away from school and walk the last part of the journey.
