This week’s homework is a whole school Talk Time homework.
I can talk about my learning.
Look at the photographs. You could talk about:
- the learning that you see in the photos
- what learning could have happened before
- what learning might happen next
Times tables Practise recalling facts for x7 and ÷7.
Year 6 homework is Practice Makes Perfect.
We’ve given the children four pages in their CGP Maths Revision book (p13, 14, 22, 25) and four in their CGP English Revision book (p42, 43, 49, 50). They need to be completed by Tuesday.

Year 6 homework will be Practice Makes Perfect. We’ve given the children three pages in their CGP Maths Revision book (p44, 45, 46) and three in the CGP English Revision book (p52, 53, 56). They need to be completed by Monday (Maths) and Tuesday (English).
Year 5 homework will be Creative. As part of the Tour de Yorkshire celebrations, each class has been given a bike to decorate a bike. We’d like the children to design a way to decorate their class bike.
Times tables. Practise recalling facts for x8 and ÷8. In addition to any usual tables practice, make a fact family poster.
Tour de Yorkshire
You can’t fail to spot the yellow signs that have gone up through the village warning about road closures on Friday 04 May. The signs indicate that the road through Scholes will be closed between 10:15 – 13:00 and 16:00 – 18:30. We’re given to understand that these are rolling closures and that the race will pass through at some point between these times.
Of immediate concern is the afternoon closure as this gives very little time for all children to be collected and for staff to leave school premises before 16:00. As a result, you can pick your child up from 14:30 onwards, allowing for a safer, less rushed exit from school.
Dance for Daniel
A huge thank you to all involved with our Dance for Daniel. We have managed to raise, so far, £2, 500!
This is an amazing sum of money – thank you. I will be talking to the family, during this next week , about what we can now do to help.
News about Daniel is that he is doing well. After a few complications following the transplant he is making steady progress. The next big step is to have Daniel well enough so that he can be transferred to a Leeds hospital as the family are still travelling to Birmingham.
We continue to wish Daniel well.
Dance for Daniel!
We danced for a whole hour on Thursday in support of one of our pupils, Daniel, who has recently undergone an organ transplant. He will spend several months in hospital recovering and we thought it would be nice to show our support. The sun shone and it was a great way to end Spring term – with everyone smiling and feeling happy! If anyone has any sponsor money or donations, please send them into school after the Easter holidays.
Poetry Recital
Homework a couple of weeks ago was to learn a poem to recite in front of the class. Lots of children were able to do this. It is a great way to strengthen memory skills and to learn how to pronounce words clearly and fluently.
Are you beautiful?
Our Talk Time homework (linked to our Living and Learning theme) produced some super discussions about what is beautiful.
‘I think elephants are beautiful.’
‘Beautiful is not just about how you look. You can be beautiful if you are nice, clever or generous.’
‘Beautiful means different things to different people.’
‘Nature is beautiful, like wild animals and pets, and particularly snails shells.’
Special hatching visitors!
Wow! We have had a very exciting few days. Yesterday, we watched chicks hatching!
Foundation have been very patient waiting 21 days for the chicks to hatch in the incubator.
We have 4 chicks. The children have written their ideas for the names and we’ll decide as a class soon. Today, we talked about the life cycle of a hen and how to care for our chicks. Can your child tell you what we talked about for 2 challenge bricks? Please send us an email with your child’s response.
We also let the chicks run around on the carpet in front of us – it was very exciting! Tomorrow, we’re looking forward to holding the chicks.
