05 October 2018
This week’s homework is Creative. You can show this in any way you like – drawing, writing, cutting out picture and sticking in.
I can show how lunchboxes have changed over time.
In our history based Time Travel topic, we’re thinking about how things change over time and how things in your child’s life might be different to that of their parent/carer or grandparents.
Use the lunchbox template provided to show what your child would typically have in a lunchbox and then what you (as a parent or carer – or ask a grandparent) might have had in your own lunchbox.

This week the whole school has the same Talk Time homework which should be completed by Thursday 04 October.
If I could travel in time, who would I take with me and why?
This homework, which links to our current big topic (Time Travel), is a chance for children to think about who is important to them and why. There are many factors which may influence your child’s decision:
- What makes a good travel companion?
- Are there any skills that would help during time travel?
- Who do they enjoy spending time with and why?
- Do they choose someone they know or someone they know of?
Children should discuss this with someone at home and be ready to discuss their viewpoint as part of our weekly homework review next week.

14 September 2018
This week the whole school has the same Practice Makes Perfect homework which should be completed by Thursday 20 September.
I know some Where in the World facts.
This homework, which links to our current mini-topic (Where in the World), is a chance for children to show off their geographical knowledge. Children should learn and remember (one of our 8Rs for learning) some facts about the world that they find interesting. There are many things children could learn about:
- the seven continents
- capital cities
- names of the oceans
- the countries of the UK, Europe or the world
- the population of some countries
- interesting facts about a place they find interesting or have been
- how to say a common word or phrase in several languages (for example, hello!)
- and, of course, there are many more facts children could find out and learn
This homework should be evidenced in homework books with children ready (another of our 8Rs for learning) to show off their new-found geographical knowledge as part of our weekly homework review next week.

For more information about homework, please visit the Learn More/Homework page.
Our first homework of the year is Talk Time.
I can talk about where I have visited in the UK and abroad.
You could talk about:
- your local area – street, area, city
- places you have visited in the UK – England, Northern Ireland, Scotland or Wales
- places you have visited in other countries
- people you know in other cities or countries
If your child is in Year 1, you could write some notes for them in the homework book. If your child is in Year 2, they could have a go writing their own notes about what you’ve talked about.

6 July 2018
This week’s homework is a whole school Talk Time homework.
I make healthy choices.
As a reflection of last week’s Health Week, please talk with your family or friends about healthy choices. Here are some ideas:
- food choices – do you eat a healthy balanced diet?
- exercise – do you get enough?
- sleep – do you know how much sleep you should have and do you regularly get enough?
- mental health – can you use mindfulness strategies to deal with difficult emotions or situations?
- personal safety – can you keep yourself safe in different situations (in the sun, near water, playing out) and do you know where to go for help or advice?

This week’s homework is Practice Makes Perfect. A handwriting activity will be stuck in your child’s homework book. You can help at home any time with this by ensuring letters are sized and placed correctly on the line. Check out the Help Your Child section of our website and look for the handwriting guide.

This week’s homework is Practice Makes Perfect.
Learn the words to this song by heart (you don’t have to sing it).
Never Smile at a Crocodile
by Frank Churchill
Never smile at a crocodile
No, you can’t get friendly with a crocodile
Don’t be taken in by his welcome grin
He’s imagining how well you’d fit within his skin
Never smile at a crocodile
Never tip your hat and stop to talk awhile
Never run, walk away, say good-night, not good-day
Clear the aisle but never smile at Mister Crocodile
You may very well be well bred
Lots of etiquette in your head
But there’s always some special case, time or place
To forget etiquette
For instance
Never smile at a crocodile
No, you can’t get friendly with a crocodile
Don’t be taken in by his welcome grin
He’s imagining how well you’d fit within his skin
Never smile at a crocodile
Never dip your hat and stop to talk awhile
Never run, walk away, say good-night, not good-day
Clear the aisle but never smile at Mister Crocodile!
