Posted on Friday 06 December 2019 by Mrs Latham

We have planted another 120 trees from the Woodland Trust on the school grounds this week. Thank you to Scholes in Bloom and the School Council for helping to do this.

You can also see the Scholes in Bloom presentation here that children in school saw last week too. The village looks wonderful!

Planting Trees

Posted on Thursday 05 December 2019 by Mr Roundtree

Our School Councillors were busy at work this afternoon, digging holes and planting young trees in and around our school field.  There were roses, hawthorns, dogwoods, wild cherries and silver birches.

There were 120 saplings to plant and, with the help of Scholes in Bloom volunteers,

….they manged to do it all in one (cold and windy) afternoon!

Thank you very much to our fabulous friends, Scholes in Bloom, who kindly gave up their time to help us – we couldn’t have done it without you!

Thank you to Mrs Latham who ordered the trees and organised the afternoon.  We promise to look after them and will enjoy watching them grow.

Takeover Day

Posted on Friday 29 November 2019 by Mrs Hogarth

Year 5/6S did an amazing job during Takeover Day. We enjoyed a range of lessons including reading, writing and maths. Some children took on the role of the teacher. They made their own resources and slides for the Clevertouch screen- I was very impressed! Other children took on responsibilities such as taking the register, being a teaching assistant and giving out rewards. Well done to all the children who have spent the week planning their lessons- they’ve put a lot of effort in and worked through their lunchtimes. I am very proud of them. It was also great to see the children dress in clothes that reflect who they are as a person.

Living and Learning: School Charity

Posted on Friday 29 November 2019 by Mr Roundtree

Thank you to our Cancer research representative who came to accept our cheque for a staggering £1986.24 this week.

A huge “Well done!” to everybody who helped fund raise the money last year, whether it was buying an ice-pop, baking buns or donating to sponsored events.

We are very proud of our achievements! We look forward to finding out who will be our new school charity for this year.

Living and Learning- Community Week

Posted on Thursday 28 November 2019 by Mrs Hogarth

This week we have been learning all about our community. The children have produced identity circles in which they identified things that are important to them, such as family and friends. They drew maps of important places, and places they regularly visit. We had visits from local police officers and Stella Walsh from the Parish Council, who explained their work in the local community.
