Teddy Bear’s Picnic

Monday 16th July 12.30-2.30 pm

  • If your child is moving to Reception in September and they don’t attend Nursery on a Monday afternoon, they are welcome to join us from 12.30pm-2.30pm. Please bring them to the Nursery door and sign them in as usual and you can collect them at home time, which is 2.30pm.
  • Children can wear summery clothes and bring their favourite teddy.
  • We will provide picnic food that the children are going to help make in the morning. They have told us all the things that they would like, including honey sandwiches for the bears and some watermelon. Children will have lunch as usual at Nursery.
  • Thank you for your donations towards to the cost of the picnic food. If you’d still like to contribute, there’s a bowl in the Nursery entrance.

Living and Learning – I cope with change

Posted on Friday 13 July 2018 by Mr Roundtree

Friday 13 July

Yesterday, our children all met their new teachers for September. They had a full morning of activities with their new class and came back buzzing with enthusiasm.

Today, during our Living and Learning circle time, we talked about the emotions we felt and how we could deal with them, ranging from worry and frustration to excitement and relief. The children were quick to acknowledge that they experienced a whole range of emotions as it was hard to identify just one.

The children could talk openly about their feelings and are very much looking forward to the change in September.

Debate- Should footballers be role models?

Posted on Wednesday 11 July 2018 by Mrs Lake

Today in 3/4N, during our reading session, we debated: Should footballers be considered role models?  After reading information provided by FirstNews , the children were ready with arguments for and against. During the debate, all the children respectfully listened to the opposite side, used information to inform their viewpoints and put forward logical viewpoints.

It’s coming home!!

Posted on Monday 09 July 2018 by Mrs Lake

We kicked off our World Cup mini topic this morning by looking at the Three Lions song. The children used their reading skills to answer a retrieval, an interpret and an authors choice question about the song. This then sparked a discussion about why we say ‘It’s coming home.’ What does it mean? Discuss with your child what they found out during today’s discussion.

Living and Learning – Physical health and well being in the media

Posted on Sunday 08 July 2018 by Mrs Allaway

We looked at a range of news headlines about children’s phyical health. Some headlines conveyed really positive messages about children’s physical activity. Others headlines were quite negative. We debated whether or not we agreed with them and backed up our opinions with reasons.

Chloe

“The most negative headline is: Kids are couch potatoes.

I think this is unfair because I do 12 hours of gymnastics a week. I also think most children do at least one, if not more than one, after school sports club a week. It makes me feel annoyed that someone has written this headline.”

Max

“The most negative headline is: Kids are couch potatoes.

It make me feel like I should be doing more exercise because I’m like a couch potato sometimes. It’s a fair headline because some people sit on the xbox all night but I do a bit of each: a bit of exercise and a bit of xbox.

The most postive headline is: Olympics inspire a generation of children to get into sport.

The Olympics definitely inspired me. I was inspired to get faster at running  100m and to play table tennis!”
